Sleep Study 2015

By the time Katie got into Mott for a sleep study it had been well over a year when I realized she was not sleeping through the night. Not to mention all the nights years previous that I'd listen to her stop breathing for seconds at a time. (That was corrected with the throat surgery in the Fall of 2014). But now, since she had been sleeping in a toddler bed and not her crib, Kate would get up multiple times a night and wake me up. I knew that that would have to end.

Our trip began with a visit at Sam's house. We were treated to yummy strawberries and Kate's favorite meal, pizza!

After our hang with Sam, we successfully made it to Ann Arbor. (First time ever not missing the A2 exit!) We checked into the lab and got rolling with the set up. Kate was a trooper! She sat still like a big girl while the tech marked up her body with red crayon and goopy stuff before getting hooked up to wires and eventually getting "mummified".

It's getting dark outside.

The tech gave Kate gloves to wear. Now every time we're in a doctor's office we steal gloves!

How anyone can sleep like this is beyond me. But, she did. For the most part; only getting up once to go potty. I on the other hand, couldn't sleep a wink. The techs kept coming in to monitor Kate. The machine wasn't getting a good reading. At one point they changed her breathing apparatus. It was crazy. But, they did come to a conclusion. Kate has a type of sleep apnea that doesn't allow her to get a deep sleep. Her ENT told me, ten years ago they would be nothing left to do. But because technology has advanced they can determine why Kate has this type of apnea. This requires going to a sleep specialist and answering every question in the book. (SIGH) Our appointment for that was rescheduled, due to a family illness, for February 2016. Update to follow.

Until then, I'll enjoy this super cute photo of two super cute kiddos!
